Display course learning objectives

Add an objectives block to show the course's learning objectives on the page, or prompt adding objectives in course settings when none exist.

Add an objectives block to display the course’s learning objectives directly on a page. The block reads the objectives you define in course settings and renders them as a list. If no objectives exist yet, authors see a dashed placeholder prompting them to add objectives in course settings; learners see nothing.

  1. Open a page in the studio canvas.
  2. Choose Insert block and select Learning objectives from the Assessment group.
  3. The block appears with a default heading of What you’ll learn. You can change the heading by editing the block in the inspector.

To set the objectives themselves:

  1. Open Course settings from the studio toolbar.
  2. Add your course-level learning objectives in the objectives field. A course can have 0–12 objectives.
  3. Return to the page. The objectives block reflects whatever objectives the course defines, rendered as an unordered list under the heading.

  • Objectives are managed at the course level in course settings, not edited inline within the block.
  • The block displays all course objectives; you cannot filter or select a subset per page.
  • The heading defaults to “What you’ll learn” and can be customized, but the objective list itself is not editable on the block.
